Water Is The Source Of Life (1 Comment)

We can survive for weeks without food. However, we can only last a few days without water. Our body composition is approximately 75 percent water, which is an integral part of your muscle, fat and bones, as well as our blood, urine, digestive juices, and perspiration. If you were to remove all the water from our bodies, there simply wouldn’t be much else left.

But our bodies can’t store water, so we need to replenish the supply every day in order to make up for the loss through our skin, lungs and the through the elimination of bodily waste. We need water for the ultimate health of every cell in our bodies, as well as keeping our blood liquid so it can move through the veins and arteries. Water is also necessary for the elimination of body waste and to flush toxins, regulate body temperature, cushion and lubricate the joints, and carrying nutrients and oxygen to where they are needed. Drinking plenty of water also plays a big role in lowering the risk of some diseases.

Drinking alcohol or caffeine drinks causes you do lose much more water through urination, because these drinks act as diuretics, which means they make the kidneys produce more urine. This not only causes you to lose water, you also lose the water-soluble vitamins, which includes all the B complex vitamins and vitamin C. I’ve been told for every beverage containing alcohol or caffeine I should drink one extra glass of water.

You can get about four glasses of water a day from eating a diet with a lot of fruits and vegetables. But even with this kind of diet, you still need to drink an extra six to eight glasses of water per day, to keep your body properly hydrated. And then add on another glass of water for each beverage you drink with caffeine or alcohol.

If you do not drink enough water, you can become seriously dehydrated. This problem is easy to solve by simply drinking more water, and other fluids. The symptoms of dehydration aren’t always all that easy to recognize. They include, lethargy, headaches, slow responses, mood swings, nasal passages that are dry. Also included in this list are lips that are dry and cracked, dark urine, feeling extremely tired and weak, as well as confusion and even hallucinations. Ultimately, if dehydration is allowed to go on too long, you will stop urinating, and the body won’t be able to remove toxins. The kidneys will fail, which will then result in death. All of this unpleasantness can be prevented, by simply drinking plenty of water every day.

It’s necessary to drink six to eight glasses of water and other liquids every day. Some people and climates may require more than eight glasses, such as people who physically active, children, people who live in a hot humid climate, or women who are breastfeeding. Some people don’t need as much water, for instance, people who are very inactive, people who live in a cold climate, older people, and people why eat a lot of foods with a high water content, such as grapes and melons.

Eating For a Healthy Heart (No Comments)

Eating For A Healthy Heart

At some point in time we all experience bad cholesterol
or a bad diet. Even though we may try hard, it’s impossible
to eat healthy our whole lives. However, everyone should
try eating healthy for their heart. This is especially
important when it comes to restoring health and reducing
heart attacks.

Your heart and food

We know these things for sure – a diet high in
saturated fats will help raise your cholesterol.
High cholesterol a risk factor for heart disease.
People that are obese are more prone to heart disease.
And a diet high in sodium may elevate your blood pressure
which leads to inflammation and even heart disease.

Here are a few tips to help prevent heart disease
and improve your health.

Eat plenty of fish

Herring, sardines, and salmon are all excellent sources
of Omega 3 essential fatty acids. Other fish are good to eat also,
however those with Omega 3 may help to get your cholesterol
down to a healthier level.

Choosing healthy fats and oils

Saturated fat will increase the risk of heart disease.
It’s found in butter, meat, and even coconut oil. Until
your cholesterol levels are down and you are at a
healthy weight you should avoid these items . Those
who love red meats can enjoy seafood and nuts for
their main sources of protein.

Monounsaturated fats such as olive oils will help
you to protect your heart. Olive oil is an ideal
choice for dressing, cooking, or even as a dipping
sauce.

Plenty of fiber

Did you know that fiber can help you control your cholesterol?
You can find fiber in whole grain products. Fiber helps
control sugar absorption as well, which will help
you keep your digestive system healthy.

Choosing carbohydrates

Eating for your heart involves staying away from
sugary foods such as cakes, candy, cookies, and
pastries. Eating a lot of sugar isn’t good for
your heart at all. Healthy carbohydrates
involve whole grain breads, whole grain pasta, brown
rice, and a lot of vegetables. Fruits and vegetables
should be the main aspect of your diet.

Healthy cooking methods

Stir frying and sauteing with olive oil or canola
oil are both great cooking methods. You shouldn’t dip
your food in batter and fry it anymore. If you
cook chicken, remove the skin and bake it in the
oven in foil.

Bake you fish instead of frying it. Steaming your
vegetables will help maintain the most nutrients.
You should not use cream sauces or large amounts
of butter anymore either. When you eat vegetables,
try squeezing lemon juice on them or using your
favorite seasonings.

Keep in mind that as you make the proper changes to your
diet it will take time for them to become habits.
Eating healthy is always great for your body and your
lifestyle, but it is essential when it comes to your heart and
the prevention of heart disease.
