Bipolar Symptoms – Overview

The symptoms of bipolar are divided into two groups; they are manic and depressive. People with bipolar disorder are going to suffer both groups of symptoms.

Mania

Mania is the high point of bipolar symptoms . With mania the person is feeling high. They are happy and feeling like they are on top of the world.

However, the main point of mania is that the person is not only pleased, but glad in the extreme. All symptoms of a person actually has in a manic episode is pushed to the extreme that is why it’s regarded as a mania, not just simply be happy.

The other trouble with the manic episode is that because of the extreme high, the person may tend to do something spontaneously, and cannot control their behavior. A lot of people during this episode will feel like they’re unbeatable.

Other things that can happen during a manic episode may not seem like happy behavior. A person may become very aggressive and confrontational. They may seem very mouthy or irritated.

Symptoms of bipolar (manic episode) include:

• Extremely optimistic
• Irritable
• High energy
• No require to sleep
• Unrealistic thinking
• High self-esteem
• Quick talking
• Extremely active
• Incapable to focus
• Agitation
• Irresponsible behavior

Depression

Another kind of episode suffered by a person suffering from bipolar disorder is depressive episode. Totally the opposite of mania, depression brings about someone to feel extremely weak. The person may feel very sad and low.

They may start to feel like their life is worthless. A depressive episode can lead to suicidal thoughts and actions.

The depressive episode is frequently more dangerous than the manic episode. This episode is almost always treated with the medication due to this reality.

However, regular medications used to treat depression do not often work for bipolar depression and can actually make it worse. A person is a bipolar depressive episode will often move slowly and start to act very different than someone who simply is suffering from depression.

• Extreme changes in eating habits
• Feeling empty
• Sluggishness

It is important not to ignore the signs of bipolar disorder. Bipolar symptoms are the first sign that something is wrong and the first chance for a person to seek help and get treatment.
